MAIN BAR, DINING & TERRACE BAR
The main bar, housed in a large palapa, has open sides and a pergola roof over the seating area. There is a central square bar clad in hand-painted tiles in Caribbean blue, a crazy paving stone floor – a local design on the islands – linen and rattan furniture, vintage cane pieces, woven hanging lights and handmade ceramic lamps. There are rustic heavy linens and neutral tones throughout. The grass rugs are woven on nearby St Vincent by men in prison as part of the Grow in Time rehabilitation programme, as well as some of the baskets, doormats and wall hangings used in the House. The dining palapa, also connected to the main bar, is open sided with more crazy paving, wooden chairs, tiled wooden tables, and vintage armchairs. The same materials are used throughout the connecting areas, creating a laid-back flow through the spaces.
The terrace bar has a mix of vintage lounge seating and a long banquette set against a wall lined with decorative baskets collected from around the world. Just in front, there is a lounge area on the beach, dotted with small pergolas for shade, with hanging rattan festoon lighting and built-in timber sunbeds.
There are hammock chairs to relax in, low seating and cushions on the sand, with palm trees and landscaped planting that surround the space. There is also a DJ palapa, which is a permanent fixture on the beach terrace with large speakers and a DJ deck.
BEDROOMS
Further down the shoreline, the 40 bedrooms consisting of 32 standard and eight big rooms, are housed in white painted wooden buildings with traditional Caribbean-blue tin roofs. Each room sits directly in front of the beach, with a sea-facing balcony. The design is simple and relaxed, with solid painted wooden walls, timber emperor beds, ceramic bedside lamps with woven shades, timber minibars with scallop-edge detail – which was inspired by old Caribbean houses on the island – wooden shutter windows and tapestries on
the walls. Natural finishes are used in the bathrooms with travertine tiles, rustic oak vanities, and woven cane mirrors. There are no TVs in the bedrooms, offering a quiet escape for members and guests. The Big and Large bedrooms each have a vintage wardrobe and seating area, with four-poster beds draped with mosquito nets and vintage rattan furniture and accessories, including a small desk and sideboard, cane bookshelves, and a sunbed on the balcony.
On the beach in front of the rooms, striped sun loungers sit under palapa umbrellas dotted around the seafront, alongside a beach bar in a timber shack with a shuttered front. Water sports are available from a wooden-clad shack on the beach, with surfboards and sports equipment for guests to use.
Bedroom bookings are open to Soho House members and Soho Friends; a new membership type that gives access to Soho House bedrooms, Studios and events, as well as benefits at the spas, restaurants and cinemas. Soho Friends members do not have access to the Houses.
To get to Canouan, guests can fly into either St Vincent or Barbados and then catch a small charter plane, which can be arranged through the House. If arriving by large boat, there is a big marina on Canouan for guests to moor and then travel to the House’s jetty by tender.
As a 22 year veteran in the fitness industry, I am a true Fitness Specialist. I am an ACE certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor as well as a 200 RYT yoga teacher. My love for all three modalities created BPM. Why choose between focusing on form and strength training, getting a good HIIT session or flexibility and mobility work? All three components are necessary. I created BPM for the yogi that’s intimidated by cardio, the runner who can’t touch their toes, and people who want to feel confident lifting without the fear of injury. BPM is a balance. A balance of equal parts power and mobility. Everything you want, and at the same time everything you need. Now that’s BALANCE.
I have been in the fitness industry for the past 12 years and have worked in many different facilities as a coach as well as consultant, including: Orangetheory fitness, Barry’s Bootcamp, Kamps fitness, Antidote Wellness labs, Cinderfit and ERA fit. During my time in the group fitness industry, I have worked with all levels of clientele and believe that anyone, with the right coaching and mindset in place, can reach their health and wellness goals.
I have had a passion for working in health my entire life, but my passion grew to a profession as I pursued my doctoral degree in physical therapy in 2015. As a physical therapist, I strive to educate my clients about optimal pain-free movement and how to take control of their short-term limitations to prevent them from becoming lifelong disabilities. I have worked with many types of clients including post-surgical, pre-surgical, NFL athletes, high-school and collegiate athletes but I have a specialty in treating active adults.
I am an all around fitness enthusiast and an advocate of all things that help create a balanced, healthy life. My love for taking classes, and the community it created for me eventually led me to become a fitness instructor myself. I love being in the fitness arena, yet I am truly rooted in spirituality. I understand and believe that where the mind...and soul goes, the body will absolutely follow, and I greatly enjoy sharing this knowledge with others.
Outside of being a youth leader, public speaker, and fitness instructor, I also help people find peace in their home and business life by insuring and advising them on the well being of their personal and professional properties.
